In responding to a question about the Canadian government’s closure of Chinese tech firm Hikvision’s business in Canada, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said Monday that Canada has forcibly shut down Hikvision’s business in Canada and banned Canadian government departments from purchasing or using Hikvision products on the grounds of “national security”. China is strongly dissatisfied and firmly opposed to this.
